SO WHAT MADE HIM SO POPULAR?

As you may be wondering how he got so famous and known, all of his glory came from his slave revolt. In 73 BC, Spartacus had finally had enough and he did just the opposite of what he was supposed to do; he escaped. It was not only he that escaped, about 70 other gladiators went along with him. For protection, the armed themselves with knives from the cook's shop. While escaping, they found a wagon filled with weapons for the gladiators to use while battling, so of course, the men stole all of that gear as well. The crew successfully escaped the gladiator school and camped upon Mount Vesuvius. The Romans were obviously not too thrilled about this and they sent an army of 3000 soldiers to try to catch the runaways. As Spartacus knew it was coming, he thought outside the box and attacked the army from rear, defeating the Romans. Rome was not just going to allow that, resulting in them sending double the amount of men that were sent last time. Six thousand men were sent and yet again Spartacus had won the battle.
